Townsville, being in the tropics (and in a rain shadow), has three hundred rain free days a year. Whereas there are traditionally four seasons, in Townsville we have only two; wet season and dry season. When it is wet, there are high levels of humidity and often is caused by a coastal cyclone. In the dry season it is hot, but still maintains high humidity. The temperature is quite high during December to March, but usually only drops to 25C'' in the winter.
